James River Writers Conference

I don’t know how or why, but they managed to ask me to be a panelist for this year’s James River Writers Conference.  I am going to do it!  I have been a panelist before, with the Route One South Music Conference many moons ago, plus my job gives me the occasion to present at a few Library related gigs.

Conferences are a strange and fun breed; everyone running around with cheap swag and name tags either hobnobbing with folks they know or networking with the ones they don’t.  Sometimes they network up sadly, other times great relationships develop.  I’m just going to go and do my thing, so yeah, I like cheap free swag.  Sure, I’m no Tom Robbins, but who cares.  There are all levels of writing and authorship in the world, and I am happy to represent the underdogs.  I kind of had that approach to the Music Conference when I was on the same panel as some major newspaper personalities.  I was more of the counterculture vulture spinning my venom with the best of them.  Held my own too!  Anyway, should be interesting!

October 20-21st.

Richmond Macabre II : More Nightmares

Beth and I are teaming up once again for a second volume of the awesome Richmond Macabre Series!  The call for submissions has gone out and the picks have been made.  Plus we have Richmond artist, James Callahan, Barf Comics doing the cover.  Sketches are looking good!  Stay tuned!

Richmond Young Writers

I will be a guest at the Richmond Young Writers Summer Session 2012.  It certainly will be a lot of fun getting the kids to create stories in this class on Zombies and Aliens vs. Werewolves and Vampires with Julie Geen.  I will be addressing setting, atmosphere and creating your creature.   I’m really looking forward to this.  If you have kids 11-13 that are interested, register!  June 27th, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
